Why we exist

We set out to understand what is happening to our society, and why.

Our society is in crisis.

Look closely and you can see cracks spreading through every pillar, with the same patterns everywhere.

Identity

Young people losing their sense of identity and purpose

Family

Family bonds weakening under the pressures of modern life

Community

Communities fragmented and disconnected

Institutions

Institutions falling short of the people they serve

One initiative for each crack. Well-meaning, but every plaster shares the same three flaws.

Reactionary

Responding after the damage is done, rather than preventing it.

Short-term

Easing the symptoms for a while, before the cracks return.

Isolated

Each crack is treated alone, as if it had nothing to do with the rest.

It’s time to face the real problem: the base of society.

The foundation beneath them allEducation.

A choice between Islamic education and schoolFamilies are forced to trade one off against the other, when young people need both.

Critical gaps in the school curriculumMainstream schooling leaves out much of what shapes a whole person.

No God-centred upbringing or worldviewFaith is treated as separate from learning, rather than the lens for it.

Little community or service-oriented visionSuccess is framed around the individual, not the society they could serve.

All of this has led to:

Generations of Muslims without the vision, priority or capability to contribute to the transformation society so badly needs.

01VisionNo clear picture of the society they could help build.

02PriorityContributing to that change never makes it to the top of the list.

03CapabilityWithout the skills and grounding to make it happen.
